MotherFood digital course

£45.00

MotherFood is a cooking course aimed at soon-to-be parents, where we will learn ways of nourishing the new family. With this course I hope to offer a practical blue print and make your transition into parenthood easier by supporting you with tips, ideas and nutrient-rich recipes. We will create easy, accessibly dishes that are easily adaptable to suit eaters of all ages, they are equally weaning friendly and will support you through breast feeding. Most dishes are perfect for batch cooking and are rooted in a low-waste approach so can be used in multiple different ways across the week, minimising the need for busy parents to keep reinventing the wheel.

Included in the package:

3x cooking sessions featuring 3-4 different recipes each, as well as introduction to cooking techniques, flavour combinations, recipe ideas and nutrient properties of foods. Each lesson covers a particular stage of early parenting.

Lesson 1
Preparing for early postpartum before labour
In this session we look at how to set up your kitchen, fridge and freezer to enable an effortless and easy cooking practise when you return to your kitchen as a parent. We look at dishes that can be prepared in advance and either frozen or easily stored.
Recipes include: chicken stock, hummus, sauerkraut and ‘Mother’s dukkdah’ spice blend. Also included in the class are labour food ideas, kitchen staples and a flavour wheel.

Lesson 2
Breast-feeding and the early postpartum

In this session we look at foods that are a source of vital ingredients to promote and support hormonal health, breast health and milk supply. We look at dishes that can be prepared in advance and easily cooked when needed or can be batch cooked to feed you as often as needed.

Recipes included:
Asian style roast salmon and green veg stir fry
Middle Eastern roast salmon and roast root veg
A chicken, kale and apple salad with tahini ‘mayo’
Lactation cookies

I also offer ideas for grazing plates and breast-feeding ‘snack baskets’ to ensure you are never hungry or thirsty.

Lesson 3
Baby weaning and eating as a family

The final session covers a very exciting new stage in your family’s life - eating together with your child. All of the recipes in this session, as well as in the entire course, are easily adaptable to suit various stages of weaning, as well as for older children. We also cover the emotional and social aspect of food and how to ensure an easeful and joyful dynamic around the table.

Recipes included:
Red lentil and root vegetable dhal
A green frittata
A beetroot and kidney bean stew

Each recipe includes instructions on how to adapt the dish for different stages of weaning.

Overall, I hope this course will offer basic nutritional advice, inspire your creativity in the kitchen and enable you to experience many joyful moments in the kitchen and around the family table!
